New IALC President, Celestine Rowland

IALC has elected Celestine Rowland, director of Galway Cultural Institute in Ireland, as its new president. Ms Rowland, who previously served as Vice President – Quality Assurance, heads up an international board of directors drawn from IALC member schools.

Newly elected to the IALC Executive Board are Giorgia Biccelli, director of Linguadue in Italy, and Stefan Adenet-Kaven, director of the Institut Linguistique Adenet in Montpellier, France. Ms Biccelli succeeds Ms Rowland as head of quality assurance, while Stefan Adenet-Kaven becomes Secretary/Treasurer of the independent language schools’ association.

“It is a great honour and privilege for me that the membership of the association has voted me as their President,” Ms Rowland told The PIE News. “I see my role as leading the organisation and implementing all our plans with the wonderful executive board and the very hard working secretariat.”

Completing the IALC board, the association’s 2014 AGM in Brisbane in April re-elected Jean-Marc Alberola of US-based Bridge as Vice President - Marketing and Florian Meierhofer of BWS Germanlingua in Germany as Vice President - Membership.
