Our Junior Programs offer young learners the opportunity to learn English in spectacular U.S. cities while building life-long friendships with their peers from around the world and discovering valuable life lessons. A combination of courses, activities and excursions creates the perfect balance of learning and fun.

The ELC Junior Program at UCSB is for students between the ages of 11-17 and includes 20 lessons a week of General English. Our students have the opportunity to live on the beach lined campus at UCSB in shared rooms with a full board meal plan. Additionally, all students have access to recreation room with TV, ping pong table, foosball table, outdoor tennis courts, basketball court, pool, eld space, and sand volleyball court

The Junior Program is designed to provide exceptional support, supervision and excitement, ensuring our students’ experiences are educationally, socially and culturally enriching.

Highlights

  • MULTI-LEVEL PLACEMENT

Our method of placement testing allows students to be placed into the most appropriate level for each skill area, rather than a single level placement for all skill areas.

Two 40-minute and two 60-minute lessons per day - 20 lessons per week (Monday-Friday)

ELC Junior Programs let’s students create memories that will last a lifetime and make new friends from all over the world!

Programmes offered

ELC’s Junior programs offer you three options to choose from:

Full package:

  • 20 lessons of English (General English)
  • On-campus residential accommodation with full-board meal plan
  • Supervised weekday activities and full day excursion each Sunday
  • All transportation to and from afternoon activities and excursions included in program
  • Airport transfers included for flights arriving Saturday between 9am-9pm and departure flights departing Saturday between 9am-9pm.

Course and Activities:

  • 20 lessons of English (General English)
  • Supervised weekday activities and full day excursions each Sunday
  • Transportation to and from all activities and excursions included in Program

Course only:

  • 20 lessons of English (General English)

Additionally our Junior Programs provides students the opportunity to choose from up to three afternoon activity options. Students can create their adventure and combine activities (by the week)!

UCSB Junior program afternoon activity options:  (Monday-Friday)

Classic Program Enjoy all the culture, sights, and sounds of Los Angeles. 

Outdoor EXPLORER Explore the amazing outdoors in Santa Barbara Kayak along beautiful beaches past the friendly sea lions, and hike and bike majestic mountains.

Surf EXPLORER  Surf Explorers will learn to surf in the waters off the coast of Santa Barbara that are famous for their mild temperatures and great waves. Surfing activities include professional surf instruction (two lessons per week) and other exciting outdoor activities. Requires a supplemental fee.

Accommodation

University residence on the UCSB campus:

  • 18 meals per week
  • Full-board Monday-Friday
  • Half-board Saturday, breakfast only Sunday
  • Double rooms

UCSB residence halls include high- and low-rise buildings with spectacular ocean, lagoon, and mountain views. Many of the residences feature spacious outdoor areas for playing and studying.

Each tower is set up with two double rooms which are connected by a common bathroom complete with a shower, toilet and sink. Single rooms are available for a supplemental fee.

Residence hall amenities include furnished rooms with linens, laundry facilities located in the residence, recreational room with pool tables, ping pong tables, a foosball table, air hockey tables, television, and vending machines. Multiple study lounges are offered throughout the halls.

Local area

The UCSB campus is situated along the Santa Barbara and Goleta coastline. UCSB offers great living and recreational facilities steps from the Pacific Ocean, classes, and campus resources. The UCSB campus is just a short ride to Downtown Santa Barbara where you will find Historic landmarks, museums, famous shops and restaurants of Paseo Nuevo and State Street.

Santa Barbara combines the cultural and recreational offerings of a major city with the warm, friendly and relaxed atmosphere of a small town.

Exam options

We can provide one to one TOEFL and IELTS test preparation classes and help to register the student for the exam locally.
