Emerald''s UK multi-activity programme takes place in what was originally an English stately home dating from the 16th Century. Situated in the Kent countryside, international students can enjoy a varied programme of exciting in-school activities on a beautiful campus that is just a short train journey away from central London. Highlights

  • Meals: students are provided with breakfast, lunch and dinner on campus and will have packed lunches when on full-day excursions days. The food at Cobham hall is prepared by year-round school staff and is of a high quality. They are happy to cater for most specialist dietary requirements. (Please notify us in advance if a specialist diet is required)
  • Laundry facilities and Linen: students can have their personal laundry washed once a week by school staff. Students will be told which day their laundry is collected. Bed linens are changed every Sunday.
  • Sports and Recreation: Cobham Hall School has fantastic sports and leisure facilities. There is something for everybody and a full activity programme with lots of exciting, varied choices, ensuring that students can participate with enthusiasm. Facilities include: Large and well-equipped sports centre, Dance studio, Drama studio, Art rooms, Cooking room, Tennis courts, Several playing fields and sports pitches. Indoor 25 metre swimming pool, Astro pitches (all weather)
  • Classes: all classrooms are spacious, airy and have either interactive whiteboards or overhead projectors.

Programmes offered

  • At Cobham Hall we provide our Multi-Activity Programme and our Intensive English Course. The multi activity programme combines our general language course with a full programme of extra-curricular activities suitable for junior students. Aimed at students aged between 9 and 17 years, this course is ideal for students who want to learn English while enjoying lively, interesting and interactive activities and sporting activities.

    Our offer includes 15 hours of quality English lessons per week, as well as residential accommodation, excellent facilities and plenty of afternoon activities. The Intensive English course adds an extra 6 hours of English classes per week which focus on speaking and listening skills.

    The afternoon activities on campus will enable students to participate in a choice of sports including, football, volleyball, basketball, tennis, cricket, badminton, baseball and rounders. Other afternoon activities will include; dance, drama, cooking and a variety of arts and crafts. Fun evening activities will enable all the students to come together and enjoy a range of lively events including talent and fashion shows, discos and karaoke, quizzes and scavenger hunt.

    The Cobham Hall programme also offers one full day excursion and two half-day excursions per week. The full-day excursions will visit London and include great attractions such as The London Eye, The Tower of London and the Thames River Cruise and Greenwich observatory.

    Half-day excursions will be to places of interest and fun in the surrounding area, such as Hever Castle, Chatham Historic Dockyard, Canterbury and Rochester.

Accommodation

  • Accommodation on Campus, in one of our three boarding houses onsite.
  • Students will stay in one of three boarding houses with a total capacity of circa 210 beds.
  • Main House has a total of 130 beds mostly in dormitory style rooms. Bedrooms range from 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 beds in large comfortable rooms. The shared bathrooms are modern, plentiful and practical. There is a comfortable and spacious common room, equipped with games, a large TV and various social spaces. There are separate floors and wings for boys and for girls.
  • Brooke House contains single or twin rooms with shared bathrooms and is a girl’s house. (approx. 40 beds)
  • Bligh House contains single or twin rooms with shared bathrooms and is a boy’s house. (approx. 40 beds)
  • All boarding house have large, comfortable common rooms with TV’s, DVD’s and often a piano. These cosy rooms give students an opportunity to relax during their free time and are perfect for students to get together and make new friends.
  • Entrance to the building houses is by secure key codes.
  • Wi-Fi is available in all boarding houses.

Local area

Cobham Hall is located in the beautiful county of Kent, south east of London. Central London is 50 kilometres away, only 20 minutes by train and 50 minutes by coach.

The historic town of Rochester is 10 minutes away. Rochester is famed as the home of Charles Dickens and home to the second oldest Cathedral in the UK. A short taxi ride will take you to Gravesend train station with easy access to London and nearby Kentish towns such as Canterbury, Maidstone and Chatham; a soon-to-be World Heritage Site.
