Quality Language Schools Worldwide

IALC President Alexandra Borges de Sousa made a video-conference speech at the XI European Day of Languages, which took place in the Italian city of Salerno on 26 September 2012. It was organized by IALC member school Accademia Italiana, Centro Linguistico e Culturale and had the participation of the European Parliament.

Around 50 Italian students from the Linguistic Lyceum Regina Margherita in Salerno and 50 foreign students learning Italian at Accademia Italiana took part to the educational event to raise awareness of multilingualism in European and extra-EU multi-ethnic contexts.

The program began with a conference that opened with a message from Gianni Pittella, Deputy Vice President of the European Parliament. Led by Francesca Romana Memoli, director of Accademia Italiana, the conference focused on the importance of the multilingualism as a tool for mobility, intercultural dialogue and integration.

Next, laboratory classes were held simultaneously in four languages: English, French, Italian and Arabic, which was strongly requested by the students. The Italian students also worked in pairs with international students in various linguistic activities.

This was followed by a seminar, opened with a video-conference speech by Alexandra Borges de Sousa, President of IALC. An Accademia Italiana expert talked about the importance of mobility and learning languages abroad in the best high-quality schools worldwide.

The event ended with the awarding of two scholarships for English language courses in Malta at the IALC-accredited BELS Schools in Malta and Gozo.

Francesca Memoli reports that the organizers, school leaders, teachers and students who took part were very satisfied with the day.
