IALC & JAOS unite for student scholarship award ceremony and roadshow

The International Association of Language Centres (IALC) and the Japan Association of Overseas Studies (JAOS) were hosts to the IALC JAOS Japan Student Scholarship Award Ceremony at the Keio Plaza Hotel in Tokyo on Monday 29 January 2018.

As a global standard in language study abroad, our dynamic association of quality international language centres joined forces with JAOS for a coordinated scholarship programme.

Our objective has been to help the award winners with their preparations as volunteers at forthcoming major international sporting events in Japan. As many as 70 scholarships have been awarded by IALC schools to Japanese students, with a prize of four weeks free tuition and accommodation at a number of IALC schools around the world.

The event was a prestigious affair with many leaders within the study travel sector in attendance as well as 25 IALC schools all converging in Tokyo to hand out awards and greet the lucky scholars personally.

IALC vice-president of marketing Robin Adams said, “The IALC and JAOS have worked closely over the past two years to prepare for the scholarship program.  Watching the first students receive their scholarships on January 29th was extremely rewarding and we saw the tangible results of this partnership between IALC and JAOS. Clearly the two associations have developed a solid base from which we can continue to develop exciting initiatives, whereby IALC member schools will be able to work closely with Japanese Language Travel agents as the Study Abroad market in Japan continues to grow.”

With Japan soon to become the centre of the sporting world, our scholars will be provided with both a cultural and language learning experience and we wish them the greatest success in the months ahead.

The IALC JAOS Japan Student Scholarship Award Ceremony was followed by a roadshow in which 30 Japanese agencies met with 25 world leading language schools for a day of business, networking and opportunities.
