Runners from various English language schools won trophies in the 2012 Oxford Fun Run, held on 12 May in the Oxford University Parks. Among them, a team of students from Oxford English Centre won the IALC Trophy.

Taking part in the annual charity event were runners, walkers, corporate teams, language schools and colleges, individuals and families. IALC staff Ruba Dayoub and Hollie Coffey (pictured) travelled from Canterbury to join in the fun and raise money for good causes.

Seven teams from IALC language schools in England participated in the five-kilometre course: four student teams and one staff team from Oxford English Centre, a family team including Shane Wilkinson from Bournemouth Business School International, and a Cambridge Academy of English team led by Principal John Barnett in fancy dress as Fred Flintstone.

There were prizes for Winning Team, Winning School, Winning Club or Society, Winning Individual, Leading Lady, Winning Family, Best Team Fancy Dress, Best Individual Fancy Dress, and the Rotary Achievement Award.

John Barnett won the Sartorial Stroller Trophy for the best dressed "gentleman or lady". The individual race winner was Hibiku Maruoaka, a Japanese student studying in Oxford, whose time was 15.20. After the race Hibiku was persuaded to run in the 10-km Oxford Town and Gown race the following day, in which he finished third out of 3500.

The Oxford Fun Run hopes to beat the £17,000 raised for various charities last year.

Oxford English Centre hosted all the 423 entrants at the school. All guests were invited to a barbeque where 750 sausages and 350 baps were provided.
