Founded in 1972 International House Torquay is a professional, welcoming school located in a beautiful part of the UK, 2.5 hours from London. We specialise in mature students, with an average age of 42. There is a wide range of courses, focussing on, for example, Professional Development, Language Holidays for Adults and English + Golf.

Homestay is our most popular accommodation option and is recommended for students of all ages and nationalities. Our partner hotesl are located just minutes from the school. Apartments are located close to the school, and are good options for the more independent student or families.

The town offers excellent shopping and leisure opportunities, an attractive harbour and fantastic golden sandy beaches. It’s also the perfect base from which to explore this historic and beautiful region.
Torbay has recently been designated as a UNESCO Global Geopark site for its historical and geological importance. Dramatic cliffs and diverse flora and fauna are just some of the significant features of this beautiful area.
The attractive harbour is lined with shops and bistros and is bustling with tourists on a sunny summers day. There is always plenty to do including watersports, coastal walks, visiting cultural and historical places or relaxing on the sandy beaches
World-famous writers such as Agatha Christie and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle visited, lived in and loved our beautiful region of the English Riviera. Agatha Christie was the inspiration for our Discover Devon 50+ programme as well as many of the trips on our diverse social programme.
We are authorised to run Cambridge exams (YL, KET, PET, FCE, CAE, CPE and BEC), Trinity exams (GESE) and TOLES exams at TIS
We also offer exam preparation courses throughout the year for Cambridge First, Advanced, Proficiency exams and the Trinity IELTS exams.
