Wimbledon School of English triumphs at Oxford Fun Run

Quality Language Schools Worldwide

The Oxford Fun Run attracted a high turnout of IALC schools in May 2013, with new IALC member Wimbledon School of English winning the IALC Trophy among other prizes!

About 440 runners participated in the annual charity event in Oxford on 11 May, including students and staff from several IALC schools: ELC Bristol, the London School of English, Margate Language Centre, Wimbledon School of English and CES, who provided the overall race winner and brought teams from all their centres including Dublin.

But it was the Wimbledon School of English students who stood out, excelling in three categories. Twenty one eager WSE students turned up at the coach despite the cold and rain, and proved a force to be reckoned in their striking purple WSE t-shirts. Phillippe Holdener from Switzerland came 2nd overall and won the PIE award for best international student with an impressive time of 19 minutes and 16 seconds. Swiss boys Silvan, Luca, Hapib and Enea were the fastest team from an IALC school, and all WSE participants shared the SEA Rotary Achievement Award for the best school team.

The annual Oxford Fun Run is great day out for English language students, combining sport and friendly rivalry with fund-raising and a wonderful post-race barbecue.
