From summer 2006, 14- to 17-year olds can learn English on campus at the University of California, Los Angeles, one of the world's most famous universities. The new summer language program is run by the English Language Center USA (ELC). Students will live and study on the UCLA campus on Los Angeles' exclusive west side, where they have free access to all UCLA facilities, including the Sunset Canyon Recreation Center and Wooden Center. The program features English language classes, accommodation and chaperoned activities.

Evening and weekend activities include Magic Mountain, Disneyland, Universal Studios, Outlet Shopping, Las Vegas and San Diego. Daily afternoon activities include a tour of UCLA, movie premiers, Santa Monica Pier Concert, Getty Center Museum, Santa Monica Beach, Billiards/Pool, Fossil Museum & Tar Pits and sports.

Simon Smith, who has joined the English Language Centers USA team as Director of ELC Los Angeles, has overall responsibility for the new junior program. Simon previously managed ESL schools and programs in Los Angeles, Japan, Indonesia and the UK, gaining extensive experience in all areas of ESL management.
