Quality Language Schools Worldwide

This month, we talk to Helen Cox, Director of the SACE Colleges. SACE Colleges are located in 3 unique Australian locations: Adelaide (Gateway to the Outback), Hobart Tasmania and Airlie Beach Whitsundays (adjacent to the Great Barrier Reef).

SACE offers a wide range of courses including Cambridge Preparation, Direct Entry pathway programmes to university, IELTS Preparation and Teacher Training and a wide choice of activities and experiences.

Q. When did you join IALC and why?

SACE joined IALC in 2001, we were very interested to join IALC for the opportunity to be a member of a well known professional organisation for professional exchange of ideas and opportunity to participate in IALC’s marketing opportunities.

Q. What do you like most about being part of this exclusive global community of quality language schools?

We enjoy the professional and friendly exchange with IALC members and agents

Q. How did last year (2013) go for you? What are your main aims for your schools for the year to come?

2013 was a busy and productive year. SACE Adelaide was appointed as the authorised Cambridge Examination Centre for Adelaide. This year SACE is expanding its educational relationships and university pathways to provide greater choice for our students.

Q. What developments do you expect in Australia in 2014? How will they impact the industry?

I think after the last few years of regulatory changes for International Education in Australia that 2014 will be a more stable year. The Australian dollar is also much more competitive so we are looking forward to a good year.

Q. Anything new at SACE? If so why did you innovate? Can you already measure positive returns?

SACE is now offering a wider range of English+ Work options plus a greater diversity of Academic Pathway programmes. The SACE Gap Year programme has also been positively received by both students and agents.

Q. What are your most popular student activities?

At SACE Whitsundays’ diving and sailing trips to nearby Great Barrier Reef are most popular for students followed by the ocean rafting trips. At SACE Adelaide both week-end excursions to Kangaroo Island and Flinders Ranges and Sheep farm experience remain the top two excursions for students. At SACE Hobart students tell us they love the a bushwalking trips particularly to Tasmania’s World Heritage National parks and visiting wildlife farm to see the famous Tasmanian devils.
