Impact English College student wins International Student of the Year award at VIEA 2019

News from IALC language school Impact English College:

On November 25th, Impact English College student Ana Maria Llorente Valbuena was bestowed the ‘International Student of the Year’ award for the ‘English Language Training Category’. Held at the ‘Investment Centre Victoria’, the Victorian International Education Awards (VIEA) are used to “identify and distinguish the champions of international education in Victoria”. International student award winners, such as Ana, are granted $10,000 to contribute towards furthering their education in Victoria.

Ana came to Melbourne to learn English in 2018. The Colombian native is an Environmental Engineer with a Masters of Geomatics. She came to Impact to develop her English skills to aid her with her specialised work in Colombia. Since arriving in Australia, Ana has spent her spare time getting involved in the Victorian community and volunteering for ‘Friends of the Earth Melbourne’, a not-for-profit organisation.

Ana has completed the General English, Barista/Café English and Cambridge B2 First (FCE) courses at Impact. Winning the ‘International Student of the Year’ award is an astounding attainment and Ana would like to thank Impact and her wonderful teachers. She describes her experience at Impact as “absolutely amazing” and added that her dreams for her future are “to finish my journey related to English skills”.

Impact would also like to congratulate Jenny Duque, another Impact English College student who was shortlisted for this award. Congratulations to both students on their fantastic accomplishment, and we look forward to continuing Impact‘s rich history of achievement.
