A student from IALC-accredited language school Impact English College, in Australia, has been awarded for her language skills and for making a positive difference to the international student community.

On 30 October, Natalia Eugenia Palacio Vasquez was presented the award for ‘International Student of the Year - English Language Training Category’ at the 2017 Victorian International Education Awards (VIEA), held at the Investment Centre Victoria.

“The awards are Victoria’s highest distinctions in international education; award recipients are presented with $10,000. The prestigious Premier’s Award winner is presented with an additional $10,000. Award recipients also go on to become ambassadors for Study Melbourne.”

Natalia with Minister for Trade and Investment.Natalia came to Victoria to learn English as a second language at Impact English College. She arrived in Melbourne in February and successfully completed her studies in General English, Business English, Cambridge FCE, and IELTS/EAP courses. She was able to improve her English reading, writing, listening and public speaking skills. Natalia credits her teachers at Impact, “I want to say thank you for being amazing teachers but most importantly, incredible human beings who have made a difference in my life, encouraging me to be a better student.”

In Colombia, she was a communications professional which made it easier for her to connect with people of diverse backgrounds. She volunteered during her free time and got involved with local communities. The Victorian International Education awards are a celebration of outstanding international students who have contributed positively to the Australian and international student community in one way or another.  Congratulations Natalia!
