Glasgow & Global Schools of English create “The Scottish Experience” for online learning

Glasgow School of English and its sister school, Global School in Edinburgh are now offering online, General English and other specialist classes, delivered by highly qualified teachers, via Zoom.

So far, so good, but what Glasgow and Global Schools have done that is, they believe, unique, is to seek to replicate “The Scottish Experience” online, so that students who visit their website and social media can view and listen to videos and read blogs that show and describe just what it’s like to be in Scotland.

The idea,” said Director David Orr, “is to give our online students a taste of every aspect of Scottish life, history, arts, sport and cultureWe know that this is something that all our students have always commented on: whether it’s telling us how friendly the Scottish people are, how much they like the architecture and historical buildings or what they think of our amazing art galleries and museums.”

Currently, the Schools’ websites have links to videos about, amongst other things:

Haggis - the most famous Scottish food
Shinty - a unique Scottish sport)
The Loch Ness Monster (does it exist?)

Famous Scottish inventions - from the television to the telephone!
What happens at a ceilidh - a Scottish dance party.

Learn about the Scottish Experience from Glasgow School of English and Global School in Edinburgh.

The Schools will be posting new videos and blogs and encouraging former students to reply and comment about their experiences in Scotland and how much they are looking forward to returning once the pandemic is over.

The Schools are sharing these messages on their social media platforms and in addition are marketing themselves by posting pictures of students and their teachers so that former students can remember their time in Scotland and sign up for some further expert tuition online.
