Activities in Dublin for Delegate Companions

We hope you are looking forward to your trip to Dublin as part of IALC’s Dublin Workshop. 

Whilst you are not participating in the day events of the workshop, we would like to help you make the most of your time in Ireland. 

Please find below an array of suggested day activities that may be of interest. 

Inside the city

  • Dublin City Sightseeing: Hop-on, Hop-off Tour (hop-on-hop-off-bus.com) - Hop-on Hop-off buses are a great, cost-effective way of seeing the whole city. The bus stops at many of Dublin’s main attractions or you can just stay on the bus and take in the city. The bus is fitted with an audio guide which is available in multiple languages and you can “hop-on” and “hop-off” the bus as many times as you like during your ticket duration (tickets are available for 24 /48/ 72 hours). 
  • Dublin is of course famous for Guinness and it’s world-famous whiskey and both the Guinness storehouse and several distilleries are just a short walk from the centre of Dublin. Tickets for entry and tours can be found on the links below:

Outside the city

  • If you would like to explore outside of the city and see some of Ireland’s world-famous coast, this 4 hour tour includes a guided walking tour taking in the breath-taking views of the cliffs of Howth and then free time to explore beautiful Howth Village at your leisure. The tour includes your transportation via bus, to and from the centre of Dublin - Howth Coastal Half-Day Bus Tour from Dublin with Live Guide 2023 (viator.com) 
  • If you would like to go slightly further afield this day trip takes you through Kildare to historic Kilkenny on this full-day scenic tour from Dublin. Once the medieval capital of Ireland, Kilkenny boasts Ireland’s finest Norman castle, and have the chance to buy a pint of Kilkenny beer in the city where it is produced. Spend time in Kilkenny then continue to the monastic city of St. Kevin Head to the megalithic portal tomb of Brownshill Dolmen to uncover how ancient - Irish ancestors buried their dead and celebrated their passage into the next world.
