Learn English in Whitianga, New Zealand

If you enjoy amazing natural scenery set in a garden of lush landscape, then Whitianga is the place to learn English surrounded by a fantastic wealth of stunning coastlines.

Whitianga is a town on the Coromandel Peninsula, in the Waikato Region of New Zealand's North Island. The town is located on the beautiful Mercury Bay, on the northeastern coast of the peninsula. An area renowned for its spectacular natural scenery. Whitianga is a town where you can dictate the pace of life: as busy or as calm as you choose.

With the world-famous Coromandel Coast and the Cathedral Cove Marine Reserve on its doorstep, you will find many charter boats plying the waters of Mercury Bay for fishing, diving or scenic cruising trips.  Cruises depart daily from the Whitianga wharf and head out to Cathedral Cove, exploring the stunning volcanic coastline and sea caves along the way. View the marine life in and around the reserve including Gemstone Bay and the huge school of snapper. You may even catch sight of a dolphin or orca.

The Whitianga Marina is a world class New Zealand 'Clean Marina' and a popular stopping-off point for both local and international boat owners visiting the Coromandel Peninsula.

Whitianga has been continuously occupied for more than a thousand years since Maori explorer Kupe's tribe settled here after his visit in approzimately 950 A.D. Whitianga is a safe friendly town, quickly evolving into a delightful place to visit and fast becoming one New Zealand's most popular North Island summer holiday destinations.

Visitors to the area can choose from a wide range of fun and interesting land-based and water-based activities and attractions for people of all ages on offer in and around Whitianga Township and the wider Mercury Bay area. There are fish to catch and shellfish to gather; the relatively sheltered waters of the bay are great for all water sports. On land there are bush walks and horse trekking over picturesque landscapes.
