From May 2021, BSL will run "English Outdoors": a new concept with lessons taking place in outdoor locations all over the city, allowing students to make the most of their English course in New York while enjoying the best views of the city in a safe and socially distant manner.
Being outdoors adds a unique element to the classroom experience: students learn from places such as Central Park, Washington Square Park, Brooklyn Bridge Park... and are immersed in NYC life and culture in truly authentic settings. The city becomes their classroom! Classes are rich in cultural content and conversation and also include weekly cultural and educational field trips around the city. There are alternative locations for rainy days so lessons are guaranteed everyday day, whatever the weather.
All morning lessons will take place outdoors, and afternoon electives will take place in our new English Outdoors (EO) Lounge in Brooklyn's trendiest neighborhood, DUMBO.
English Outdoors is a new and innovative way to learn English, and the chance to make a positive impact on the environment by making the most of natural resources.
Adult courses 17+ – May 03rd to October 29th 2021
Designed to immerse students in NYC life and culture while improving all four language skills as well as grammar and vocabulary. Students will also gain first-hand experience of NYC life through regular cultural and educational field trips throughout the city. Lessons will take place outdoors, locations will change everyday to allow students to discover more of the city, and will revert to indoor locations on rainy days.
Specifically designed for students on F1 visas who wish to progress at a quicker pace through the standard program + 10 additional lessons each week in the form of academic electives focused on a specific subject. This is a hybrid program with morning lessons (15 hours per week) taking place outdoors and afternoon electives (7.5 hours per week) taking place in our EO Lounge in Dumbo.
Consists of the Standard Course + 3 private lessons focusing on the student’s areas of weakness and areas of interest. This course can be booked as a Combined General English or Combined Business English course. Morning group lessons will be outdoors while private lessons will take place in our EO Lounge in Dumbo.
For personal and/or professional objectives. The English program is tailored to suit each student's personal needs and goals, taking into account the time they have, their proficiency level, and their learning style.

Our homestays are located in Brooklyn and are all recruited by the school director himself, ensuring a high quality of placements. We have a strong network of hosts who have been working with us for years and offer a real community experience to our students. Room Only, B&B and Half-Board options available.
Coliving consists of sharing houses with locals and/or other foreign students. All houses are newly refurbished and offer a high standard of clean and comfortable accommodation. Private and shared rooms available in Brooklyn and Manhattan.

The school doesn't offer exam preparation courses in groups but exam preparation can be booked with private lessons.
The English Outdoors (EO) Lounge
The BSL EO Lounge is located in Dumbo, just a few minutes walk from the Brooklyn Bridge, Brooklyn Bridge Park, and the beautiful neighborhood of Brooklyn Heights. The famous view of Manhattan bridge from Washington Street, one of New York’s most famous Instagram shots, is also in the neighborhood.
The EO Lounge is situated in a loft-style setting, in a 8-floored building. There are 3 subway stations within minutes of the Lounge, giving you access to the A, C, F, 2, and 3 lines. Manhattan is just one stop on the subway!
Pathway programs
We have developed an easy pathway to get into higher-education programs after studying English with us. We can offer a conditional offer to an undergraduate or graduate program at one of our University partners on the initial application to BSL if you successfully complete the BSL Upper-intermediate level (B2) for undergraduate students and advanced level (C1) for graduate students.
Our current university partners include Mercy College, Drew University and St Joseph’s College.
