Familiarisation Trips to IALC French Language SchoolsMontpellier, Toulon and Nice
27 language school agents from 12 countries took part in the post-workshop fam trip organised jointly by the Institut Linguistique Adenet (ILA) in Montpellier, BLS-Campus International in Toulon and France Langue and Alpha B. in Nice. Arriving in Montpellier from Paris by TGV, the agents visited the ILA school buildings, student residences and an aparthotel. At a champagne reception in the evening, they were able to chat to Claudia and Stefan Adenet, the ILA directors, and the school staff. A walking tour of the historic centre of Montpellier was followed by a drive via the salt lagoons with their wild pink flamingos to the beach restaurant of the Michelin 2-star chefs, Jacques and Laurent Pourcel, for dinner. The trip continued by coach the next day to Nice, stopping first in Toulon, where the group visited BLS-Campus International. Director Marie-Laure Lions-Olivieri gave a presentation on BLS-Campus International and its junior camp Le Pradet. There was time to talk to the school staff and look around the school and its beautiful seaside location, before a delicious lunch buffet of home-cooked specialities of the region. Next, it was on by coach to Nice, where the group visited one of the partner student residences of France Langue and the France Langue school premises. During a champagne reception, the agents had the chance to talk with France Langue owner Bertrand Piot and the directors, staff and students of the Nice school. In the evening, France Langue hosted dinner at a restaurant beside the yachting marina in Monaco. The drive along the stunning coast from Nice to Monaco showed some of the highlights of the region. The next morning, French language school Alpha.b organised a guided tour of the old centre of Nice, followed by a visit to the two Alpha.b school buildings and a champagne reception. Here, agents were able to talk with Alpha.b directors Anja Denysiuk and Pascal Richez and the school staff. Lunch was hosted by Alpha.b in a typical Nice restaurant with local specialities.
Bordeaux & Biarritz
18 language travel agents from nine countries joined the post-workshop fam trip to the BLS French language schools in Biarritz and Bordeaux. Arriving in Biarritz by TGV, the group took a guided tour of the elegant seaside resort famous for its beaches and surfers. This was followed by a firsthand introduction to the BLS French & Golf programme. Isabelle Charbonneau, director of BLS-Biarritz, took the group around the Ilbaritz Golf Club, which has breathtaking views of the Pyrenees and Atlantic Ocean, ending with a drink at the club house. Next, the agents visited the school, where they enjoyed Basque wine and canapés. The evening began with champagne offered the Biarritz Casino, followed by a delicious meal in the “restaurant du Casino”, overlooking the main promenade and ocean front. A relaxing stroll along the beach rounded off the day. The next morning, the group travelled to Bordeaux by train for a guided tour of the city, which was followed by a 2-hour Bordeaux wine tasting course at’ l’Ecole du Bordeaux’, BLS partner school for the French & Bordeaux wine course. After lunch in a typical French brasserie, the group took a short tour of Bordeaux’s main 18th and 19th monuments and architecture. Next, the agents visited the BLS school premises in the heart of the city, enjoying a glass of wine in BLS’s interior garden. The setting for the final evening dinner was “La Maison Bord’eaux”, a charming and beautifully decorated hotel.
