IALC Workshop 2002 – Malaga, Spain

IALC Workshop Malaga 2002

For many delegates the 19th IALC workshop in Malaga May 2002 was a trip down memory lane.

Malaca Instituto, host of the meeting, was also the setting for the very first IALC workshop in 1985, but the venue bore little resemblance to the original Malaca Instituto, still owned and run personally by Ida Willadsen, which has moved premises since 1985 and blossomed into one of the largest - and best - private Spanish schools in Spain.

Among the guests were many longstanding IALC members and regular visitors to IALC events. At the Friday night reception at La Brisa, Malaca Instituto's sister school, IALC's founding father Alberto Sampere recalled the early days and enjoyed an emotional reunion with Gisela Hauter of Alfa Sprachreisen in Germany, one of the first agents to attend an IALC meeting back in 1984.

78 language school representatives and 45 IALC member schools, representing 57 destinations around the world, attended the 2002 Workshop.
