Studio Cambridge is first language school to join Green Tourism in UK and Ireland

British English language school Studio Cambridge has joined Green Tourism. The decision was made to help the school reduce its carbon footprint and become more environmentally sustainable.

Some 5000 students take an English course at Studio Cambridge every year. Running a school involves thousands of excursions and airport transfers, journeys to and from the school, heating, cooling, cleaning, maintaining the premises, text books, paper, ink, computers and so on.

Studio Cambridge strives to maintain the highest physical and ethical standards, and joining Green Tourism is part of its environmental strategy to comply with approved codes of practice, reduce pollution, emissions and waste and reduce the use of energy, water and other resources. The school also aims to raise awareness among staff, students and business partners.

Green Tourism is the largest sustainable certification programme in the world. Recognised by the British government, it was established in 1997 as a non-profit organisation and now has 2000 members in the UK, Ireland and Canada. It provides support and inspects its certified members on a regular basis to ensure that high environmental standards are maintained.
