GenkiJACS is one of the first Japanese schools in Japan to teach communicative Japanese for everyday life, rather than academic Japanese. Everything in our schools is organized around this central philosophy. That’s why lessons focus not just on what to say, but on why, how and when to say it. We offer short term and long-term courses (student visa support available) with multiple starts during the year. Our building is just 5 minutes’ walk from Hakata station and has 14 comfortable, welcoming classrooms with big-screen projectors and smart display software and a large lounge for students to relax with games, TV, drinks, free WIFI and more! Our class size of maximum 8 students is by far the smallest of any accredited Japanese school in Japan. We call this “the GenkiJACS difference”. It’s a big part of the reason why we were the first Japanese school to be voted Star World Language School, the highest award available to a language school, and why students come back to study with us again and again. We believe in treating every student as a member of our family.

Programmes Offered
Standard Japanese Course
For people who need to be able to communicate in Japanese, this course offers a heavy emphasis on real-life skills. You will learn common sentence patterns and vocabulary with your teacher, then use them in practical situations both inside and outside of the classroom. Our course offers a full range of activities that you will find both useful and exciting.
1 Year Course (with Student Visa)
GenkiJACS’ Fukuoka Japanese Language School has been accredited by the Japanese government to offer student visas for one-year courses (extendable to 18 months) starting in January, April, July or October. We recommend this course to those students who are serious about learning Japanese. The Japanese student visa application is quite complex and difficult. However, GenkiJACS can complete most of the process for you, and provides support in English for any parts you have to do. We're here to make it easy for you!
18-month Course (with Student Visa)
If you are looking to concentrate on studying in Japan for 18 months without applying for a visa extension, this course is for you. Since 2020, GenkiJACS' Fukuoka School has been accredited by the Japanese government to offer student visas for 18 months. The courses start in January, April, July and October, so if you want a chance to stay in Japan for a longer period, bring your Japanese to an even higher level and see what can be achieved in 1.5 years, then this is the right choice.
Summer Camp
Focus on practical, everyday Japanese through interactive pair and group activities. The cultural experiences included in the lessons will help you learn Japanese in a fun, immersive way, keeping you motivated to continue after returning home .Cultural experiences, travel, and exchanges with Japanese high school students included!

Tailored Housing for Every Student
We offer several options for housing that vary slightly depending on the final school location you choose: a private room at a student’s dormitory, a private room with a Japanese family and a private apartment (contracted with a private company, and similar to a hotel in quality).

Fukuoka is located in the south-west of Japan and Fukuoka Prefecture is part of Kyushu, a large island to the south of Honshu, Japan’s main island. Its moderate climate, beautiful scenery and great location have made it popular with travellers both from within Japan and without.
In 1997, 1999 and again in 2000, Fukuoka was ranked the best city in Asia by Asia week magazine. In 2006, it was chosen by Newsweek as one of the world’s top 10 boomtowns, and has been ranked multiple times by Monocle Magazine as one of the most liveable cities in the world, and the best shopping city in the world!
Fukuoka’s renowned cuisine (the city has more restaurants per person than anywhere else in Japan) and warm-hearted people will make your stay here a pleasure. Foreigners are still not too common a sight in Fukuoka, so you will be sure to enjoy plenty of attention, and people are always happy to help you, even if your grasp of the language is not perfect.
In addition, Fukuoka is bursting with culture: its many art galleries, museums, and theatres will give you your fill of the Japanese arts, while the nightlife is the best on the island.
Exams
At the end of each course section or level, the students will have an exam in order to move forward to the higher levels. In order to pass those exams, the score required is 70%. When the students finish their course they receive a certificate from the school with the Japanese course level they have reached studying with us. We do not offer specific JLPT exam preparation courses, however we do study all the necessary contents according to the level and we can provide JLPT prep-exams together with exam enrolment assistance.
